Kids will love to fish here. You can catch trout here. We had one which was 7 lbs. You will need patience to catch one. Great fun place only pay for what you catch. Fishing rods and baits provided.
We had a blast here for the whole family. We caught 6 large trout and enjoyed the excitement of the catch, and the dinner we made later.
It was a little pricey at $7.95 per pound plus $2 per fish to clean. It is also awesome that they clean and filet them for you!!
They also have a small gem mining area that was a nice break from the sun.
There were 3 ponds and there were benches and a good amount of seating for those who came to watch the family fish.
We visited yesterday ( 10/28) right at opening! We were there about an hour and caught 7 trout ( 3 others got away so we almost at 10). You are given everything you need and you will start catching fast! I would highly recommend checking them out on your trip! We might even have to make this a day trip some day soon!
We are a fishing family but have never done anything like this before. They make it extremely easy, especially for children or the inexperienced. We caught three nice sized fish in about 20 minutes! An almost guaranteed experience for the inexperienced but also fun for the experienced who are looking to catch an easy fresh meal!
Great afternoon excursion. My boys were able to catch 2 trout each at about 5 pounds per. All gear was provided and the hosts were very kind. Little pricey at about $40 per fish but the convenience factor made up for it with being able to just show up and start fishing within minutes.
Great place for family fun. Will say each fish will cost about $15 so it can get pricey pretty quick if you catch a lot. Owners were very polite and packaged my fish nicely.
Had a great day fishing at Grandfather Trout Farm. Free use of tackle, free bait & no license required.
Heath will set you up with a basic rod and reel, and you can fish in any of the 3 ponds - some have more fish than others.
You also get to use buckets, nets & tool to remove hooks.
In about an hour, I landed 3 rainbow trout and had a fourth one that got away 🎣.
5 pounds was the largest with the other 3-4 pounds each, before cleaning.
You pay by the pound, and if you want to clean & filet them yourself - you can. Or Heath will fit & filet for a small fee per fish.
Friends of ours served us trout almandine that they caught here, so he HAD to come and try this ourselves.
This is open year around - all seasons. 10-5 daily.
No indoor restrooms - port a John - so you know.
We had a lot of fun. The gem mining was disappointing, but we all had fun fishing and using the net (which ultimately worked). The fish were not at all interested in the bait. I appreciated the free use of equipment and bait. The people running it were extremely kind and fun to talk to. $7.95 per pound. We left with a couple large fillets for around $55.
